ACLS ECG and Pharmacology Review 

The AHA’s ECG & Pharmacology Course has been updated to reflect the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR And ECC. The classroom based, Facilitator-led course is designed to improve electrocardiogram (ECG) recognition skills and pharmacology knowledge for treating cardiovascular emergencies.

The American Heart Association’s ECG & Pharmacology course is a methodical review of basic ECG interpretation & resuscitation pharmacology. The course is intended for certified or non-certified, licensed or non-licensed professionals that work in the field of healthcare and are responsible for participation in cardiac evaluation and/or resuscitation.

Common participants of this course include physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician assistants, dentists, residents and fellows, medical students, and others who will work in an acute care, surgical, or hospital settings.

This course is commonly taken as a review of material prior to enrolling in ACLS or PALS training for those healthcare providers who do not participate in resuscitation or ECG interpretation on a regular basis.

This course includes the following:

  • Cardiac Anatomy
  • Electrical Conduction System of the Heart
  • Lead Placement & Basic Rhythm Analysis
  • Rhythm Strip Interpretation Practice
  • Pharmacology and Indications for Cardiac and Resuscitation Medications
  • Integration of Pharmacological Agents into ACLS Algorithms
  • Resuscitation Treatment Algorithms (BLS & ACLS)

  • Normal ECG measurements
Pharmacology
  • Basic ACLS drugs and usage
  • Drugs, doses and routes of administration during cardiovascular emergencies
  • Integrating basic drug pharmacology into ACLS algorithms

This course is designed to help students grasp the basics of ECG’s and pharmacology as directly related to helping them succeed in the AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course
