Carol Puskar
Owner
Carol Puskar has been the mainstay in the ever-changing landscape of Northern California's Cardiovascular Life Support industry. Carol brings over 17 years of management experience in the healthcare training field.
At MediShare, a shared services cooperative of several Bay Areas hospitals, Carol served as Director of Education, where she was responsible for the development and implementation of Pediatric Advanced Life Support courses for health care professionals. Under her leadership, additional courses were added and MediShare gained a reputation in the healthcare community for providing professional, well-received , and cost effective training programs.
In 2000, Carol purchased MediShare and changed the name to HeartShare Training Services, Inc , to better reflect the focus on cardiac life support training. Services were rapidly expanded to include Bay area industries and a broader range of healthcare professionals. She continually interfaces with hospital staff, department heads and physicians and serves as liaison to the American Heart Association to ensure quality standards are met. Today, HeartShare Training Services, Inc. provides accredited, quality cardiovascular and respiratory classes to more than 10,000 individuals annually.

Vernon Akins
Vice President
Vernon has been with HeartShare Training Services Inc., for over 5 years. He has over 15 years of Facility and Personnel Management experience. His background includes extensive work in Healthcare Security Administration, Public Safety Administration, and Corporate Investigation Management. Vernon has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Youngstown State University. His current management roles include class coordination & orientation, quality improvement, and accounting administration.

John Franz
Course Director, Full-time Instructor
John Franz has over thirty years experience as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. He holds a Nursing diploma from St. Marks Hospital School of Nursing where he graduated with honors, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Healthcare Education from University of Utah and a Certificate of Anesthesiology from the Army Nurse Corp. After many years of clinical experience he began his teaching career. John is a certified American Heart Association ACLS and PALS Instructor. His diversified education and career experience make him a realistic and well-rounded educator. John also contributes to a committee of Directors responsible for making curricula and course decisions.

Christi Montellato
Course Director, Instructor Coordinator, Fulltime Instructor
Christi Montellato began teaching part-time for HeartShare Training Services, Inc. several years ago and, in 2008, was hired as a fulltime faculty member. Her career background is in Para-Medicine and she has worked as a Paramedic in three counties in the Bay Area. Christi holds American Heart Association Instructor Certifications in ACLS, PALS and BLS. Additionally, she is a nationally accredited EMS Educator. She is currently working towards achieving her Masters Degree in Adult Education. Her current duties include teaching full-time, training new Instructors, contributing to a committee of Directors and writing curricula for new courses.

Tim Fagin
Faculty, Fulltime Instructor
Tim Fagin has been teaching with HeartShare Training Services, Inc. for over 5 years. Prior to working at HeartShare Training Services Inc., he acted as a field Paramedic for an ALS ambulance service. Tim holds American Heart Association Instructor Certifications in ACLS, PALS and BLS. Tim has also participated in the creation of our EKG and Pharmacology course, and is currently the Lead Instructor in that discipline. Tim is directly involved in committee decisions and his teaching experience makes him a valuable resource for other Instructors. He teaches fulltime and frequently acts as Lead Instructor for ACLS and PALS courses.

Njoki Karoki
BLS Director, BLS Instructor
Njoki has been teaching with HeartShare Training Services Inc., for over 7 years. Njoki has a Bachelor of Science degree from San Jose State University. For the last several years Njoki has managed the BLS division of the company, acting as Course Director for that discipline. She is responsible for the training and scheduling of the BLS Instructors. She is also responsible for making sure all the BLS Instructors are up to date with the new materials and guidelines from the American Heart Association. Njoki's experience and skills as an educator make her an integral part of the HeartShare staff.
